The man accused of committing a series of sexual assaults in DeKalb County will stay in jail at least until bond is determined by DeKalb County Superior Court, a lower court judge has ruled.
A DeKalb County Magistrate judge denied bond for Trever Deion Blue, 19, during a hearing late Sunday, saying he lacked authority to set a bond due to the nature of the charges. VGP-BSP13/S , VGN-AR48C , VGN-CR11H A Superior Court judge must review bond next.
Blue was arrested early Friday after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 21-year-old woman, who managed to escape. Had she not, the alleged rapist would likely still be at large, police said.
At 8:10 p.m., Blue was escorted into the Magistrate courtroom in handcuffs and ankle chains. Shortly before 10 p.m. Magistrate Judge Curtis W. Miller read the last charges which include rape, attempted rape, aggravated sodomy, sexual battery, kidnapping, cruelty to children, burglary and armed robbery. He faces a total of 30 counts and will continue to be held in the DeKalb County Jail.
A probable cause hearing has been set for March 23.
DeKalb Public Safety Director William Miller told the AJC Friday Blue has made “some incriminating statements” following his arrest. He stopped short of saying the suspect confessed to the crimes.
“I feel very confident this is the right person,” Miller said.
